Job Position: Revit/BIM Designer

General Responsibilities:

Is responsible for modeling, coordinating, and preparing technical drawings in Revit on various projects 

Reports to:

Director of Project Engineering & Support

Main Duties & Specific Responsibilities:

  • Use Revit software to compile electrical coordination drawings and sketches for the duration of a project.  Sketches include Electrical Closet layouts, wall core locations, headwall conduit routing details, electrical concrete pad layouts, etc.
  • Compile dimensioned project coordination & install drawings that include, but are not limited to the following:  electrical power racks, lighting racks, special system racks, junction box locations, light fixture locations per RCP, switchgear/panel board locations, underground conduits, floor box locations, etc.
  • Assist with RFI submittals as needed to complete coordination drawings.
  • Make visits to jobsites for field coordination with General Foreman as required.
  • Work with Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager to submit required sketches or drawings to architects and engineers for approval when necessary.
  • Coordinate with field Foreman and update coordination drawings per coordination meetings as required.
  • Assist Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager in compiling as-built drawings for projects.
  • Confer with Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager and field Foreman to resolve coordination problems.
  • Compile electrical layout drawings for Trimble layout on projects when required.
  • Coordinate with other trades on various projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable and proficient in use of Revit software.  The knowledge of using Trimble is preferred.
  • Knowledge of NavisWorks software for 3D coordination and the ability to run clash tests & generate clash reports.
  • Able to coordinate with draftsmen from other trades to work through coordination issues.
  • Ability to read electrical plans and specifications and be familiar with a variety of electrical systems and the associated terminology.
  • Knowledge of building components and systems.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule to meet project and/or customer’s requirements
  • The ability to constantly multi-task and handle multiple priorities between JBE business needs, organizational issues and sound customer relations.
  • Judgment to know when to appropriately escalate issues up the chain of command.
  • Excellent diplomatic and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer database management, word processing, scheduling and spreadsheet software applications (MS Office) and able to adapt to Company specific software.
  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and be self-motivated.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone or writing.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and/or hands.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee will spend their time in an office environment with quiet to moderate noise level.
  • The employee will be required to make frequent jobsite visits that will require the ability to walk, climb and navigate a construction site.

Education / Experience Requirements:

This position requires an Associate’s Degree in drafting and design technology, or other relevant education or experience by which an understanding of drafting systems has been gained.  Knowledge of electrical systems preferred.
